Portrait Workshop and Exhibition with Todd Drake

The Center for Principled Problem Solving and the American Friends Service Committee are sponsoring an exciting exhibition in connection with Todd Drake’s Muslim Self Portrait Exhibits currently on display in Hege Library Gallery and King 126. Below is a message from Principle Problem Solving:

Todd Drake is offering a portrait workshop on Feb. 3 and 4 and we are putting out a call for image submissions around the theme of Diversity at Guilford.  Please see below for details and the registration link for the workshop with Todd.  There is a workshop for beginners and one for experienced photographers.  Faculty, staff and students may submit images.  Attendance at the workshop is not required in order to submit images.

We will be printing and exhibiting the top 20 images submitted.  Judges will include Todd Drake, Maia Dery and 2 people selected by Multicultural Education.  We will use the images as a springboard for significant conversations about our experiences with diversity as a community.

Call for Images:  Exploring Diversity at Guilford through Photography

What does diversity mean to us?  How does diversity strengthen our community?  What issues of diversity need to be exposed and considered?  In what ways is diversity a strength of the Guilford community?  What challenges does diversity bring?
Submit up to 3 digital images of portraiture or self portraiture broadly defined (with or without a body or face, as long as it relates to a person) that explores diversity at Guilford College.  Submissions should include a statement that helps contextualize the work.  Submit images of 72 dpi for consideration.  Please shoot and maintain the largest file size possible in case your images are selected for printing.
Students, faculty, and staff, are encouraged to submit images for consideration.  Participation in the Photography Portrait Workshop with Todd Drake is not required to submit images.

A team of 4 judges will select the top 20 images which will be printed and exhibited in the Center for Principled Problem Solving in King 126.
