Here’s an inside look at Roy Nydorf’s woodcut class. Miles Davis plays in the background as students slowly chip away at their wood slabs. Roy also teaches etching and drawing.

Below we have included a few pieces of Roy’s personal work, what do you think?

Approaching midterms, students worked on their second completed woodcut in this class. Below, student Nicholas Soza nervously tests his first print from this particular cut. He was really happy with how it came out as his lettering was clear and concise and he was able to achieve a natural woodgrain texture in his background. Roy debriefed the success of the print with his student, imagining possible ways to strengthen the print quality of the piece.
